The First Rinse Is Crucial
Do. Not. Freestyle. This. (Trust us)
Your first rinse sets the tone for how your tan develops and wears.
• Rinse with lukewarm water (not too hot, not too cold…Goldilocks style)
• No soap on the first rinse - save it for your second shower!
• Use only your hand; no loofas, washcloths, exfoliation mitts, etc
• Rinse until the water runs clear
• Pat dry - don’t rub like you’re mad at it
This is where you lock everything in, so treat it accordingly.
Moisturize Like It’s Your Job
Dry skin sheds, but moisturized skin holds color. It really is that simple.
• Use a tan safe moisturizer daily
• Apply morning and night
• Show extra love after showers

• Rinse promptly after sweating
• Be gentle - no aggressive scrubbing or exfoliating

Pools, Chlorine & Summer Damage Control
Chlorine and salt water will fade your tan faster (there is no loophole. Trust us, we’ve looked), but we can minimize the damage:
• Rinse before and after swimming
• Moisturize immediately after
• Expect a gradual fade - not patchiness
A well-done tan fades evenly. If it’s fading weird, it’s usually due to dryness.
Pause the Actives
Retinols. AHAs. BHAs. Exfoliating acids. All. Of. It.
These speed up skin turnover, which means they speed up your tan’s fade. Give them a little break until your glow naturally runs its course (7-10 days). Your skin (and your tan) will thank you!
